Common Questions
Mommy and me infant and toddler early sensory learning classes in Hoboken, New Jersey and Waldwick, New Jersey. We focus on sensory play, socialization and American Sign Language. Each session is based on a book. Each class is inspired by a page within the book. Each class is a unique experience for the caregiver and child.
Why do you focus on one book per session?
Why not?! We're all a bunch of book worms over here! Books open the door for so much creativity and inspiration. Reading the same book over and over again makes you see so much more each time you read it. Plus, it becomes soothing to know what's going to happen next and it's always fun anticipating a great moment. Each session we encourage parents to incorporate the book into your child's bedtime routine and discuss all the fun activities, sign language and vocabulary they learned that week as well as all the laughs and silly moments. So many wonderful things can happen in these kinds of conversations regardless of whether your child is verbal yet. It's just the beginning to a beautiful lifetime of getting to know your little bug and letting them know how cool it is talking with them about their day.
Why do you change the class activities each week?
Surprise!!! Surprises are so much fun! Each week at Hugs & Bugs Club is inspired by a page within the book making it feel like your child's birthday to them! They get to feel excited to see all the new activities they get to jump into with their friends. Plus, we all learn through experience, so why not make new experiences for our children as much as possible?!
Why are your class sizes small?
Class sizes are kept small so children can make true connections and begin to learn from each other. It's amazing what children will do when they feel comfortable and safe around their peers. Some children will try things they normally wouldn't because they see their friends having fun.
Is class for a specific kind of child?
Yes! Yours! This class is for all children. It helps to expose all children to messy play, new textures and greater imaginative play thus creating a perfect platform to learn new vocabulary and grow socially with their peers.
What if my child doesn't like to touch certain textures?
No problem! We have fun techniques that help slowly ease reluctant children into the various sensory bins. Each child participates at various degrees.
Is this class appropriate for children with sensory processing issues?
Each child is different and mom knows best. We are more than happy to accommodate you by coming up with fun ways to ease your child into the activities, create a smaller class size or even set up private sessions. You are also always welcome to bring an occupational therapist with your child.
