Class Policies, FAQs & What to Know
Everything you need to prepare for class and make the most of your time with us.
-
Our classes use a wide variety of sensory materials for children to explore. Some materials may be choking hazards. Caregivers must remain with their child at all times and are fully responsible for keeping materials away from little mouths. Our goal is for children to explore with confidence while developing fine motor skills and learning through play.
-
This is your time to engage and connect with your child! A caregiver must attend every class, be attentive, and actively participate. We use paint, water, shaving cream, and all kinds of wonderful messy materials, so please dress yourself and your little one accordingly.
-
All classes are non-refundable. Once you register, your spot is reserved and materials and programming are planned around your attendance. We so appreciate your understanding of all the love and preparation that goes into each class!
-
Please do a quick personal assessment of your child and household before each class. If your child or anyone in the household has any symptoms of illness, please keep them home for 72 hours after symptoms subside. Everyone stays healthier when we look out for each other!
-
Students may make up up to two missed classes per session, provided cancellation is made by 4pm the day before the scheduled class. Late cancellations and no-shows are not eligible for a makeup class.
To schedule a makeup, email hi@hugsandbugsclub.com or speak with your teacher after class. Makeup classes must be used within the current session and cannot be applied toward any other Hugs & Bugs programs.
If a class is cancelled due to weather, all students will receive a makeup class.
-
We provide a single store-packaged fruit snack at the end of each class, which you are welcome to accept or skip. Please do not bring outside snacks to class, as this can be distracting and may cause allergic reactions for other children.
-
Always bring an extra change of clothes! For outdoor classes, please also bring a labeled water bottle, an all-weather mat for you and your child, personal baby wipes, hand sanitizer, and a muddy buddy suit for your little one.
-
Private indoor bathrooms are available for all indoor classes. For outdoor classes at Church Square Park, public bathrooms are available on site.

Why not?! We're all a bunch of book worms over here! Books open the door for so much creativity and inspiration, and reading the same book over and over again lets you see so much more each time. It also becomes wonderfully soothing to know what comes next, and there's nothing quite like anticipating a favorite moment together. Each session we encourage families to bring the book into your bedtime routine and talk about all the activities, sign language, vocabulary, laughs, and silly moments from class that week. So much can happen in those conversations, whether your child is verbal yet or not. It's just the beginning of a beautiful lifetime of getting to know your little bug and letting them know how wonderful it is to talk with them about their day.
-
Surprise! Surprises are so much fun! Each week at Hugs & Bugs Club is inspired by a different page within the book, making it feel like your child's birthday every single time. They get to feel that excitement of walking in and discovering all the new activities waiting for them and their friends. We all learn through experience, so why not create as many new ones as possible?!
-
Class sizes are kept small so children can make true connections and learn from each other. It is amazing what children will do when they feel comfortable and safe around their peers. Some children will try things they normally would not because they see their friends having so much fun.
-
At Hugs & Bugs Club, we believe true growth takes time and consistency. Our session-based classes create a tight-knit, familiar community where your child feels safe enough to truly explore and create. By gathering with the same small group of friends each week, children benefit from peer modeling, often trying brand-new things just because they see their little friends are having fun! From our book-inspired weekly themes and sensory exploration to the lasting friendships formed between both children and parents, a full session allows you to experience and celebrate your child's incredible developmental journey from the first class to the last.
-
Yes! Yours! This class is for all children. Exposure to messy play, new textures, and imaginative play creates a wonderful platform for building vocabulary and growing socially with peers.
-
No problem! We have fun techniques to help slowly ease reluctant children into the various sensory bins. Every child participates at their own pace and in their own way.
-
Every child is different and you know your child best. We are more than happy to accommodate you by finding creative ways to ease your child into activities, create a smaller class size, or set up private sessions. You are also always welcome to bring an occupational therapist with your child.
-
Something you do not mind getting wonderfully messy! We use paint, water, chalk, and all kinds of sensory materials, so please dress yourself and your child accordingly. Always bring an extra change of clothes for your little one. Caregivers must wear socks in the studio.
