Hugs & Bugs Club Preschool Prep program is a wonderful opportunity for our little bugs to play, immerse themselves in a beautifully creative world and gain structured independent time with their friends. This is also a lovely alternative to traditional preschool programs and those missing the birthday cut-off for local public programs. They will have tons of fun while you go and do something almost as awesome! Each class is limited to five lucky bugs ages 2 - 4.5 years old.
Pricing and schedule on the application form is for Fall 14-week session, Sept. 10th thru Dec. 21st. No classes week of Nov. 19-23rd.
We accept students on a rolling basis. 25% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve spot in class. Remainder will be due August 15th. Students enrolled in the program will be given priority to continue for 2019 sessions.
All application and materials fees are waived for Fall 2018 session.
We incorporate new activities each week to help develop imaginative play and fine motor skill development. Children also enjoy arts & crafts activities, musical instrument play time, reading to each other and so much more!
Our Preschool Prep students are 2-4.5 years old. We do our best to group children within the same age range. We believe children of various ages learn from each other and most importantly they learn patience and empathy. Under 2.5 years old are recommended to join the afternoon program at our current location at 529 Willow Avenue. We recommend 2.5-4.5 for the morning program at the new Chrysalis Cove location at 537 Park Ave.
Classes are kept small with only 5 children enrolled each day. With such a small class and 2 teachers, each child is given individualized attention to work on vocabulary, American Sign Language, fine motor skill development and so much more!
We offer two, three and five consecutive days to help children learn and adjust to structure and drop off play. It also helps to reinforce skills, signs and vocabulary learned the day before.
Please feel free to contact us with any other questions or to schedule a visit.
Hugs & Bugs Club curriculum is founded on the belief that the child is a natural born scientist, motivated to learn in a warm and safe environment through exploration, investigation, discovering and solving problems in an organic way. In a world that is mostly hands off for children, we believe it is their job to touch everything they can get their little fingers on because we know it is essential to their mental development. From stepping in paint to playing in suds, dancing in raining confetti to playing in a sandbox of beans, we offer materials and opportunities of discovery to let their sensory synapses go wild.
Children are seen as individuals worthy of being respected and appreciated for their inquisitive nature. We believe that a child-centered approach, incorporating sensory play, builds a foundation for future success as a well-rounded individual, excited to learn through hands-on activities and work individually as well as with a team of classmates.
Our Preschool Prep classes are held at our two fabulous locations in Hoboken: our current 529 Willow Ave and our new "Chrysalis Cove" location at 537 Park Ave. Our Willow Ave location offers a cozy environment full of fun and messy activities and a sense of familiarity for our current children. The newly renovated "Chrysalis Cove" location, located a block away from our current space, offers tons of fun plus two fabulously private outside areas for our little bugs to enjoy water play, outside painting and so much more!
New to drop off
We believe in a gentle approach to separation. You are welcome to join the class with your child and ease them into the drop off experience. We have seen it is best to begin an activity with your little one until you feel they are comfortable and fully engaged, at which point, you can say your goodbyes and leave. We are there to comfort your little one :)
You will receive pictures of your little one engaging in our activities each week. This not only allows you to see what your little one does when they are at our drop off class, it is a wonderful way to open up a fun discussion with your child about the fun activities. They also love seeing pictures of themselves!
Each child and family preferences differ. Your child does not need to be potty trained. If you are potty training, we are more than happy to work with your method.
Each class follows a simple routine, helping the child ease into transitions and learn to respect boundaries and their environment. We incorporate various educational sensory activities, gross and fine motor skill development, reading time, snack, show-and-tell time and so much more.
Show & Tell
Show & Tell is a FAVORITE!!! Children love bringing in their special toy or book to share with their friends in class. Each child is encouraged to talk about their toy/book and why it's so special to them. It is a wonderful way to learn how to share and cooperate with others in class.
We are a family at Hugs & Bugs Club. Enjoying a meal together reinforces the importance of family and love. Children learn how to set the table together, hand out plates and napkins as well as chat about their weekend and fun things they like to do. Each child brings in a personal fruit and/or cheese snack and a healthy community snack to share with friends. We are a nut-free facility and accommodate all allergies.
Teachers are guides and co-players throughout the various activities. They assist students by carefully selecting various tools of play throughout the activities, supporting creative thinking as well as facilitating cooperation, sharing and discussions. This approach invites the child to have a greater and more active input into what and how they learn.
Children are discovering this beautiful world for the first time and it is their job to touch, see, smell and taste everything that comes in their reach. It is our job to give them a safe place to do so.
All teachers are CPR and First Aid Certified.
